Privacy Policy
Last Updated: January 17, 2026
Inscribe is built with privacy as a core principle. This policy explains how your data is handled when you use the Inscribe macOS application.
1. On-Device Processing
The primary function of Inscribe is to transcribe and format your voice input. All transcription and AI-powered formatting are performed locally on your device using macOS System Language Models (Apple Intelligence). Your voice recordings and the resulting text never leave your computer during this process.
2. No Data Collection
Inscribe does not collect, store, or transmit any personal data, voice recordings, or transcripts to our servers or any third parties. We do not have access to your recordings or the text generated by the app.
3. Third-Party Services
Inscribe integrates with standard macOS services, including Speech Recognition and Apple Intelligence. Use of these services is subject to Apple's privacy policy. Inscribe does not send data to any other third-party services.
4. Local Storage
Inscribe stores your transcription history locally on your Mac using SwiftData. This data remains on your device and is only accessible by you. You can clear your history at any time within the application settings.
5. System Permissions
Inscribe requires the following permissions to function:
- Microphone: To record your voice for transcription.
- Speech Recognition: To convert your voice into text.
- Accessibility: To simulate the "Paste" command and insert text into your active application.
These permissions are used solely for the functionality described in this policy.
6. Changes to This Policy
We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page and updating the "Last Updated" date.
